A new luxury building in midtown Manhattan was the perfect setting for Pembrooke & Ives to create a penthouse in the sky.
“We consider ceiling heights and the spacing between the art and the ceiling molding,” says Francis Nicdao, principal and chief creative officer of Pembrooke & Ives.
Helmed by creative director Nicci Kavals, Australian lighting studio Articolo is known for its delicately seductive fixtures that reveal an artisan touch. Now, the full array is displayed to captivating effect in the atelier’s new flagship in Manhattan’s Flatiron neighborhood.
“Going out on your own requires a lot of work, dedication and time,” Erica Volkmer, principal and founder of Evensen Design tells Effect. “You have to make sure you are doing it for the right reasons, and understand that there are highs and lows to this business. Adaptability is key, and no day, or project, is ever the same.”
This Upper East Side apartment by Pembrooke & Ives was transformed from a very traditional Park Avenue home to a vibrant, eclectic space filled with art. The clients wanted a home that felt unique, whimsical and comfortable for their family and their lifestyle.
